Private Feeding Therapy
Ages 3 and Older
Thrive provides specialized pediatric feeding and swallowing therapy for children ages 3 and older through private-pay services.
Therapy is individualized to meet each child's unique feeding and swallowing needs and may be provided in the home, daycare, school, or other natural environments. Services include:
Pediatric feeding therapy, including:
Oral motor and myofunctional skills related to feeding
Sensory motor feeding therapy (i.e. selective or "picky" eating)
Pediatric swallowing therapy (dysphagia)
Oral and pharyngeal phase dysphagia
Supporting families during medically directed tube weaning
With focus on safe oral skill development, feeding progression, and collaboration with the child’s medical team
Feeding and oral motor function related to possible oral restrictions, with emphasis on function, coordination, and feeding performance
Evaluation focuses on functional feeding skills rather than structural diagnosis, which is determined by a trained medical provider
Functional support related to oral function, breathing patterns, and feeding development
With referral to appropriate medical providers for airway concerns when indicated
Parent coaching and caregiver education
*While Thrive recommends that children under age three first pursue an Early Intervention evaluation, families may contact Thrive to discuss private-pay services if they have questions about their options.
Payment and Insurance Information
Private therapy is offered on a private-pay basis. Thrive does not bill insurance directly.
Payment for private therapy is due at the time of service. Upon request, we can provide a superbill that families may submit to their insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
Prior to an evaluation, we are happy to provide commonly used CPT service (treatment) codes so families may contact their insurance provider to explore possible reimbursement, although reimbursement is not guaranteed. Official diagnosis codes (ICD-10) and CPT codes are determined only after your child receives a comprehensive clinical evaluation and cannot be assigned or provided in advance. Following an evaluation, applicable ICD-10 and CPT codes will be included on your superbill.
Some families receive partial reimbursement and, in certain cases, full reimbursement depending on their individual insurance plan and out-of-network benefits. Thrive Pediatric Feeding and Swallowing Therapy, LLC does not verify benefits or guarantee reimbursement, as coverage is determined by your individual insurance plan.
The Good Faith Estimate Notice
Under the federal No Surprise Act, healthcare providers are required to provide clients who are not using insurance with a "Good Faith Estimate" of the expected cost of services.
Thrive Pediatric Feeding and Swallowing Therapy, LLC provides each family with a written Good Faith Estimate outlining the anticipated cost of evaluation and therapy services prior to beginning treatment - within three business days of scheduling an evaluation or therapy services.
If services are scheduled less than three business days in advance, the Good Faith Estimate will be provided no later than one business day before the appointment.
Because feeding therapy is individualized and progress-based, your Good Faith Estimate reflects the initial plan of care (typically a 12-session block of therapy). At the completion of this initial phase, progress is reviewed and a written progress summary is provided. If continued services are recommended, an updated Good Faith Estimate will be issued outlining the expected cost of the next phase of care before additional sessions are scheduled or conducted.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the charges through a federal patient-provider dispute resolution process.
